Philippe Ier de Hasbourg , known as the Beautiful (July 22nd 1478 with Bruges, Belgium - September 25th 1506), king de Castille and of León

  • He is the son of the emperor of the Germanic Holy roman Empire Maximilien Ier de Hasbourg and of the Marie duchess of Burgundy (died by accident at the 25 years age)
  • He marries Jeanne Ire of Spain known as Jeanne Insane the , the girl of the king Ferdinand II of Aragon and of the queen Isabelle Ire of Castille.
  • He is the founder of the long dynasty of the Habsbourg S of Austria in Spain.
  • He is the father of the future emperor and king d' Espagne Charles Quint.

Biography

  • 1478 : July 22nd, it is born with Bruges in Belgium from the emperor Maximilien Ier de Hasbourg and the Marie duchess from Burgundy.
  • 1482 : March 27th, it is 4 years old when his/her Marie mother of Burgundy dies precociously at the 25 years age of a fall of horse during a shooting party. He thus inherits the duchy of Burgundy of his mother, and his large father the duke of Burgundy Charles Bold the. His/her father Maximilien Ier de Hasbourg is regent for him.
  • 1496 : at 18 years, he marries Jeanne Ire of Spain, known as Jeanne Insane the , girl heiress of the king Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabelle Ire of Castille. This marriage belonged to a network of alliances with the Austria and the Portugal with an aim of reinforcing Spain against the France.
  • 1502 : it receives with his wife the homage of the the Cortes (Parliament) of the Royaume of Castille and the Royaume of Aragon like heirs. Philippe turns over in Flanders before the end of the year. Its life with Jeanne is unhappy because of her inaccuracy which makes insane of jealousy his wife, and who acting on a temperament neurotic, precipitates a psychosis. The princess had paroxysms of Rage, during which it was guilty acts of violence serious. Before the death of his/her mother in 1504 it was already disturbed also the husbands lived separately.

  • With died of Isabelle de Castille, her husband Ferdinand II of Aragon tried to put the hand on the regency of Castille but the noble ones which did not like it and feared it, obliged it to give up it. Philippe was forced to go to Spain where it was named king. He unloaded with Corogne on April 28th 1506 accompanied by a body by German mercenaries. The father and the son-in-law had meetings with Remesal, close to Pueblo de Senabria, and in Renedo, the only result being an indecent family quarrel, in whom the father stated to defend the interests of his daughter who, said it, was imprisoned by her husband.

  • a civil war would have probably burst between them, but Philippe, who was in Spain just enough to prove his incapacity, died brutally in Burgos, apparently of a Typhoid fever. His wife refused for a long time to authorize the burial of her body, or to even separate some. He is the father of Charles Quint and Ferdinand Ier de Hasbourg.
