Philippe Guillou

Philippe Guillou (born in 1959 with the Faou) is a French writer. Its novels are marked by the legends Celtique S and Christianity, in a style pointing out Julien Gracq. It received the Prix Médicis in 1997 for the Seven Names of the painter and the Mediterranean Price in 1990 for the Rumor of the sun .

Born in 1959 in Faou, Philippe Guillou becomes professor of modern Lettres in 1981 with Brest. He passes the Agrégation in 1985 and teaches then with Rennes (in particular in the preparatory classes of the Lycée Chateaubriant). He becomes in 1995 inspector of letters then, in 2002, general inspector of State education. He is president of the jury of the external aggregation of modern letters since 2006.

  • Tides of Faou (Gallimard, 2003). Autobiographical account of its childhood in Brittany.
  • After the equinox (Gallimard, 2005). In a more sober style but quite as dense, history of a young student who arrives at Paris in the years 1970.
