Philippe Guilhaume

Philippe Guilhaume (May 30th, 1943 with Paris - August 13rd 1994) was a senior official and a man of television French.

Biography

Course: Bachelor of arts, graduate of higher learning of economy, graduate of the Institute of political studies of Paris, doctor of history. He is the nephew by alliance of Jacques Chaban-Delmas and the son-in-law of André Schmidt, press baron.

In 1967, it creates the “ European Business School ” whose it leaves the presidency to enter to France-Inter in 1973, then with SOFIRAD.
Of 1979 with 1981 it directs international Téléfrance , a transitory network of French-speaking television established in the United States.
In 1983, it is named general secretary of the Center of the young managers of undertaking.
In 1986, it enters to the cabinet of the president of the National Assembly, Jacques Chaban-Delmas
In January 1988, it is indicated by Jacques Chirac, against the opinion of Edouard Balladur to direct the French company of production (SFP).
the 10 August 1989, after the vote of the law creating a position of president common to both companies of television of public sector Antenna 2 and FR3, Philippe Guilhaume is named president by SCUMS, against Herve Bourges, the candidate of the Socialist party, and Georges Kiejman, the candidate of the Elysium. Curiously it is named by five votes against four thanks to the defection of two of the three members of SCUMS named by the Elysium, thus seeming the true candidate of the president François Mitterrand. With the fact, in Verbatim III of Jacques Attali with dated August 10th, 1989 one can read: " Georges Kiejman is furious against Herve Bourges, against SCUMS, against the President … " (pag. 367).

Perhaps has it be favoured in this candidature because he was son-in-law of André Schmidt, which was member many ministerial cabinets of F. Mitterrand, and was itself brother-in-law of J. Chaban-Delmas.

Unexpected candidate of the right-hand side reformist, it names two managing directors close to the capacity: Jean-Michel Strapping man (Antenne2) and Dominique Alduy (France3). But quickly taken in the financial problems and social, it also runs up against the violent hostility of the deputy secretary to the Communication, Catherine Tasca, which push it with the resignation, on December 18th, 1990. It will leave its place of president common of A2 and FR3 to Herve Bourges.

Plagiarism

Two of its works, " A President with abattre" and " Open letter with all the French who do not want to be any more taken but for cons" , are condemned for infringement of copyright. The author recopied very often the book " How you will have all the cut head or the word coupée" , written by Arnaud-Aaron Upinsky and published with editions O.E.I.L in 1991. The editor of the counterfeits, the Editions Albin Michel, is condemned after the death of the author, in first authority on February 11th, 1998, call on March 21st, 2001, judgment confirmed by the court of appeal on October 28th, 2003. The editor is condemned to the more large sum ever allocated for an infringement of copyright: 400.000 francs of damages. The work " Open letter with all the French who do not want to be any more taken but for cons" is condemned in particular for a counterfeit " of large ampleur" : 20 passages recopied for a book of 150 pages.
