Philippe Guéneau de Montbeillard
Philippe Guéneau de Montbeillard (often fore-mentioned Philibert ), born in 1720 with Semur-in-Auxois and died in 1785, is a ornithologist French.
After its rupture with Louis Jean-Marie Daubenton, Buffon calls it near him to replace it. Old friend, Buffon will say of him in a letter in 1767 : “ I would need to see you the every day to be heureux ”.
It takes part mainly in the Histoire of the birds . For the anonymous collaborator beginning, it is necessary to await the third volume of the Oiseaux (1775) so that the contribution of Guéneau is recognized. This one will continue to collaborate in it to the sixth volume (1779), Buffon having then charged it with writing the Histoire of the Insects .
