Philippe Duron

Philippe Duron , born the June 19th 1947 with Antony (Hauts-de-Seine), is a man Politique French, member of the Socialist party.

Biography

He is the current president of the area Basse-Normandie and appointed Apple-brandy.

Incorporated history in 1975, he becomes then professor of college then of college. He begins his political career in 1983 while becoming elected local official with Louvigny, of which he will become then mayor. He is elected appointed in 1997, and will be in 1999, rapporteur with the National Assembly of the Loi Voynet on town and country planning. In 2002, it is beaten with legislative by the UMP mayor of Caen Brigitte Brethon, of only 116 votes.

In 2004, he inherits the regional chief candidate PS after the defection of Jean-Pierre Godefroy. He beats the outgoing president UMP, Rene Garrec, on grounds however considered as preserving. Its good performance marks a reinforcement of the left in the zones which are most favorable for him since the years 1970, in particular the agglomerations of Cherbourg-Octeville and Caen, and a space extension of its influence.

Extremely of the “vague pink” to regional, it tries, in these first times of mandate, to develop the co-operation with the areas Brittany and High-Normandy.

It finds its seat of deputy of the district of Caen-West on June 17th, 2007, against Brigitte Brethon, with 54,17% of the votes cast.

It was indicated on November 8th, 2007 by the Caen-native socialist militants to lead the list PS to the local elections of March 2008 and to try to charm the town hall of Caen to the eternal rival Brigitte Brethon (UMP).
