Standpoint

; Position on Iran Whereas he declared, interviewed on France 2 in February 2006:
  •  Today, it is very simple: no civil nuclear program can explain the Iranian nuclear program. Therefore, it is a military nuclear program clandestin.  ”;

It makes volte-face on July 31st, 2006 declaring in connection with Iran:

  •  In the area, there are of course a country like the Iran, a large country, large people and a great civilization, which is respected and which plays a part of stabilization in the région.

Israeli the Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, answered him: “   I believe that it rectified these remarks. (...) I found that I could hear me with him on. football and on certain political questions. It is very charming. We are completely of agreement on the importance of the biotechnologies  ”, thus marking the little of respect which it had for the current holder of the function of Foreign Minister.

; Position on the wall of the West Bank The October 19th 2006, it declared, with the French television channel of the Jewish community of France TFJ, which it included/understood the reasons which led Israel to build the wall of the West Bank whereas this position is in contradiction with the opinion given the July 9th 2004 by the the International Court of Justice and officially supported by the France: I evolved/moved much on the question of the partition wall. (...) Even if morally and éthiquement for me, this wall posed problem, when I knew that there was 80% of attacks in less where this wall is drawn up, I understood that I did not have any more the right to think that with respect to Israéliens.

The October 20th 2006, Fawzi Barhoum the spokesperson of the movement Hamas, controlling the Palestinian government, was declared outraged by this opinion of the French Foreign Minister, recalling that it is the Palestinian people, and not the French people, which suffer from the partition wall.
