Philippe Chub (1492 - June 15th 1543), admiral de France, lord of Brion, count of Charny and Buzançais, knight of the orders of Saint-Michel and the Jumper, governor of Burgundy and Normandy, and admiral de France under François I {{er}}.

It was made prisoner in 1525 with the Bataille of Pavia with François I {{er}}, of which it was the Favori. Sent in Piedmont to the head of an army in 1535, it made rapids conquests there: it conquers the Bugey, the Bresse, the Savoy and the Piedmont. But Montmorency and the cardinal of Lorraine, jealous of its credit, showed it embezzlement (according to the Portuguese files, Chabot was bought by the king Don Juan III since 1531 in order to prohibit any French exploration out of Europe): it was delivered at a commission chaired by the chancellor Poyet, was relieved of its load in 1541 and was condemned to a strong fine (seventy thousand ecus) which ruined it. After more than two years of detention, it obtained, by the authorities of the duchess of Stamps, the revision of its lawsuit, was widened, and even returned in grace (1541); but he died a little later in 1543.

There are of him maritime charts, drawn up before the invention of engraving. He helped Giovanni da Verrazano (discovery of the Maine) and Jacques Cartier (discovery of the Canada).

He is the seul man enterré with the Louvre with Paris (Lying). Of Francoise of Longwy, his wife, it had two wire: Léonor Chub, count of Charny, and François Chub, marquis de Mirebeau and lord of Brion, husband of Francoise of Lugny.
