Philippe Bruneau , born in Montreal on September 22nd, 1934 is a Québécois accordionist and type-setter.
It begins its career from instrumentalist in 1955 while playing for the room of dance of Trinidad Ballroom. It takes part in the radio broadcast of the family Soucy on the waves of CKVL in 1960. In 1962, it joint with the troop of folk dance of Fire-Merry and directs the troop of the Dancers of the St. Lawrence of 1967 to 1975.
It is starting from 1978 qu ' it starts, with the pianist Dorothée Hogan a long work of actualization of the repertory for accordion. Dorothée will transcribe many parts by listening to Philippe who him plays only ear like good number of folklorists.
In 1991, it is exiled in France where it always remains.
He refuses the Prix Gerard-Morisset which the government of Quebec in 2001 decrees to him.
