Philippe Boutry

Philippe Boutry is a historian French, specialist in the 19th century and in particular in the religious questions.

Biography

Former student of the National university, it devoted his thesis to the cleaned of Ars.

He was member then director of study to the French École of Rome, director of studies to the École of the high studies in social sciences, (EHESS) within the Center of European religious anthropology (CARE), and of 1993 to 2005 professor of modern history to the university of Paris-XIi the Valley-of-Marne to Creteil. He is today professor with the university of Paris-I Pantheon-Sorbonne, with the Institut of political studies of Paris, and member of the Center of history of the 19th century (Paris 1 - Paris 4).

Its fields of studies and research touch with the religious anthropology of the Christianisme, Rome and the Papauté (18th - 19th centuries), with the religious history of contemporary France, the French revolution from the point of view of the culture and political sociabilities, and with the culture and the policy in France at the 19th century.
