Philippa Fawcett

Philippa Garrett Fawcett (April 4th 1868 - June 10th 1948) was a Mathématicien and a specialist in the theory of the British education of nationality.

It was the girl of Millicent Fawcett, the Suffragette and of Henry Fawcett Membre of the Parliament, Professor of economy political with the Université of Cambridge. His/her aunt was Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, the first lady doctor in English physics. Philippa made its studies with the Newnham College with Cambridge and was in 1890 the first woman major of promotion in mathematics in Cambridge. But as only the men were promoted at that time, it did not obtain more the title of senior wrangler reserved with the student shining in mathematics.

During several years she worked in South Africa to establish schools there before turning over in England to occupy a station in the administration of education to the London County Council .
