Philipp Blom , born with Hamburg in 1970, is a journalist, translator, Romance cier and German historian . He made his studies with Vienna and Oxford, and lives with Paris since 2005. He writes regularly in the Times Literary Supplement and the Daily Telegraph , and provides Nécrologie S to The Independent .
Its historical works include/understand To Have and To Hold (2002), a history of the collectors and collections, and Enlightening the World (2005), a history of the Encyclopédie of Diderot and D' Alembert.
It published a short novel, The Simmons Papers (1995); a translation in English language of Amsterdam (1999) of Geert Mak; and The Wines off Austria (1999).
