Philip de Malpas Grey Egerton (November 13rd 1806 - April 6th 1881) is a British paleontologist .

He follows studies to the Christ Church where its interest for the Géologie is waked up by the readings of William Buckland and by its frequentation of William Conybeare.

He travels with Lord Cole in Suisse and meets there Louis Agassiz with Neuchâtel what leads it to carry out a study of the Fossile S of Poisson S. During the 50 following years they gather two of largest and beautiful private collections, that of Egerton is with Oulton Park in the village of Tarporley, Cheshire.

Egerton describes the many structure and affinities Espèce S in publications of the Geological Society off London, the Geological Magazine and the Decades off the Geological Survey . In recognition of its services the Médaille Wollaston was decreed to him by this Learned society in 1873. He is elected member of the Royal Society in 1831 . He becomes also administrator of the British Museum.

He represents the town of Chester at the Parliament in 1830, the southern district of the Cheshire of 1835 with 1868 and the northern district of 1868 with 1881. He dies in London the April 6th 1881. Its collection of fish fossils is now with the British Museum.
