Philip Roth is an American writer born the March 19th 1933 with Newark, New Jersey.

Grandson of Jewish immigrants originating in Austria-Hungary arrived at the United States with the XIXe century, it passes his childhood to Weequahic, in a district of the middle-class, and attends the public schools of Newark. He studies at the university of Bucknell then to Chicago before becoming teaching of literature at the university of Pennsylvania until in 1992. He lives today in the Connecticut, close to New York. Its first collection of news, Goodbye Colombus, gains an immediate success, success which will be confirmed on the international literary scene after the publication of Portnoy and its complex.

Works of Philip Roth evoke the american company, the family reports/ratios, taking as a starting point the life of the author. He paints an ironic picture of the America which misled its ideals, grace in particular to his double arts person: Nathan Zuckerman. In spite of their subversive and provocative character, each one of its books reach records of sale everywhere in the world.
