Philip J. Fry

Biography

Born in 1978 with New York, it starts in 1999 a life of rather poor adult as deliveryman for a small pizzeria. After having lived a rather typical adolescence for American (video games, basketball and Breakdance), it gives the impression not to want to leave it. It is by delivering a pizza pie in a center of Cryogénisation the December 31st 1999 (to a certain I.C. Faitavoir, in American it is I.C. Wiener (meaning Icy Wiener, or " sausage congelée") that it is accidentally frozen and awakes 1000 years later in the town of New-New York.

It become acquainted there with those which will become its new family: Leela (a cyclops then charged to assign a professional advance to him) which it meets at the time of its alarm clock and Bender (a robot tordor alcoholic and attracted by the illegality) which it will meet in a cabin with suicide that he will confuse with a phone box.

The three will end up working with the Planet Express an intergalactic company of delivery belonging to Professor Hubert Farnsworth which is itself a distance great nephew of Fry. Their vexations to deliver all sorts of thing between the galaxies will become the principal intrigue of the series.

Fry has a brother, Jancey.

Many young people (and less young people) American (and others) will be identified with the character of Fry. It is the perfect type of the " loser" pitiful and sensitive which shows a humanity out of its time. He flees his work of deliveryman at the twentieth century to find it in year 3000 but this time in more exciting. Its life seems to be only one long dull and deadened river. It sometimes did everything to change that, which gives for results some adventures moreover. In the fourth season, its attraction for Leela becomes more obvious and testifies to a relaxation of the series (recognized by the character himself).

Friends

Bender is an alcoholic robot and the best friend of Fry. The two friends met whereas Bender was on the point of returning in a cabin to suicide (that Fry took for a phone box). They live together in the apartment of Bender.

Even if Bender is logically a cold and unable being of feelings, it seems much to appreciate the company of Fry and is even desperate when the young man transfers it apartment that Leela had found for them before they will live in the apartment of the robot. Bender will go even until cutting the antenna…
When Bender becomes the captain of the vessel of Planet Express (following the provisional departure of Leela), it treats Fry like a least that nothing, so much so that the boy ends up giving up it. Despaired, Bender does not drink sufficient alcohol and causes an accident. Fry finishes by him saving the life….

Even if Bender is, according to its own words, " a bad better ami" , Fry will make very to recover the Carte-mère - which contains all the personality of the robot - confiscated by Morgan Procton, the inspector of the central administration. He him will want some to have also terribly wanted to crush Leela and not him in the episode the car garoute , because Bender was to try to crush the person whom he regards as his best friend… Fortunately, for the greatest happiness of Fry, Bender, in the same episode, will finally try to kill it.

Fry is meant rather well with the remainder of the team, even if Zoidberg already tried to kill it and that Hermes does not have any scruple to transfer it.

Love life

Leela

Fry always wanted to leave with Leela but this one always refused it because of its " minablitude". However, in a parallel life, they are married and happy…

Michelle

Michelle was the boyfriend of Fry at the 20th century, but this last had serious doubts when with its fidelity. After the disappearance of her friend, Michelle realized that she really liked it and froze by despair and also to find Fry. When this last saw it in the center of cryogenics, they immediately recovered together. Unfortunately, Michelle was not able to be accustomed to year 3000. The couple was thus recongelé and awoke in year 4000 in a place empty and directed by children. Actually, they were always in year 3000 but in Los Angeles, city chaotic and little advanced at the technological level… Michelle is become again acariâtre, and it and Fry finally broke.

Amy Wong

Amy and Fry have a short relation in the episode the head on the shoulder . They leave on Mercure to test the very new car of Amy but break down from gasoline. While waiting for the break-down mechanic, they “sympathize” and put units. But Fry is not long in fearing that Amy does not stick too much to him, and becomes desperate when amy declares to him that it " heureuse" returns;. At the time of a picnic on Europe where Fry invited Zoidberg not to find one-to-one, they have a terrible accident and the body of Fry is found mutilated. In order to preserve the head in life, Zoidberg the Clerc's Office on the shoulder of Amy. In the episode of the same name, Fry leaves with Morganne, charged to inspect the bureaucrat Hermes Conrad.
