Philharmonic orchestra of Monte Carlo
The Philharmonic orchestra of Monte Carlo (often shortened in OPMC ) is the Symphony orchestra of Monaco.
History
Its name comes from the district of Monaco where he was born: Monte Carlo. Heir to glorious last, the orchestra continues to be one of the cultural florets of the principality under the current management of Marek Janowski.It draws its origin in the concerts which animate at the “House of plays” of Monaco (the future casino of Monte Carlo) as of its foundation, in 1856, a handle of musicians. Joined with the passing of years by other artists from Paris, they are indicated then under the name of Orchestre of the new circle from abroad .
In 1953, the orchestra takes the name of National orchestra of the Opera of Monte Carlo by ordinance of the prince Rainier III. Its current name of philharmonic will be given to him in 1980 by a new ordinance of the prince Monegasque.
Nowadays, the majority in the concerts of the orchestra are given to the Auditorium Rainier III, but also in the Room of the Princes of Grimaldi Forum. In more reduced formation, the Orchestra also occurs in the Garnier Room of the Opera of Monte Carlo for " mornings classiques".
Since 1959, S.A.S. the Prince of Monaco accommodates each summer the Orchestra in its palate, for famous the " Concerts of Official reception in the Main courtyard of the Princier" Palate;
