Philesiaceae

In phylogenetic classification the family of the Philésiacées is a family of Plante S Monocotylédone S including/understanding only 2 species divided into 2 kinds:

  • Lapageria , Philesia
They are hardy perennials in form of Arbuste S or of liana S of the areas moderated with tropical of the Chile and Argentine, their Feuille S is simple, alternate, the solitary flowers with the Aisselle of the sheets or the ends of the Tige S.

- Lapageria rosea , the national flower of Chile, is a liana being able to reach 10m height, its splendid flowers, in falling down small bells, gave form to many cultivars energy of the white to the red, its sheets are oval Cordiforme S with webbed veins.

- Philesia magellanica (syn. P. buxifolia ) is a rather shrubby plant, its red flowers in lengthened trumpets are suspended on the ends of the stems, its small sheets are Lancéolée S with a very marked median vein.

In traditional classification (1981) this family does not exist and cettes plants is assigned with the Smilacacée S.
