Phileas
Phileas is a Bus with high level of service. It is an alternative Tramway by are cost of infrastructure (without Rail nor Caténaire). The project emerged in the Nineties of the wish to preserve the technological knowledge and the innovation of the area of Eindhoven to get employment.
Phileas draws its name from Phileas Fogg, the protagonist of the novel of Jules Verne, the Round the world tour in 80 days, because of high speed and of punctuality. Some say that the choice of this name and also had with the similarity with the name Philips.
Concept
The Phileas is a Autobus guided of 18 or 24 meters articulated length. The bus is an hybrid (LPG - electric) with electric motors in all the wheels, excluded the voorwielen.See too
