Phil Woods

Philip Wells , known as Phil Woods , born with Springfield (Massachusetts) the November 2nd 1931, is a saxophonist viola and American clarinettist of jazz.

It played in the formations of Quincy Jones and Dizzy Gillespie. It settles in Paris in 1968 and works with inter alia with Daniel Humair and Henri Texier. It recrosses the Atlantic in 1972 and forms a four-bit byte with Mike Melilo, Steve Gilmore and Bill Goodwin.

This famous instrumentalist with the international level is also a Compositeur of music for saxophone. Formed with the Juilliard School off Music, he is the author of several important parts, concerned with the Classical music and regularly played by trainings of famous traditional saxophonists (of which the Quartet Gabriel Pierné).
