Phil Spector

Philip Spector (known as Phil) , born the 26 December 1939 in the Bronx with New York is an American producer , creator of the famous sound called Mur of sound. He is regarded as the musical producer most influential and most inventive of the history of the pop music from his lucky finds worked out in studio, making recording studio precisely an artistic tool and not a functional stage.

Biography

After a beginning of career as a singer with The Teddy Bears in 1958, It passes behind the consoles and starts to produce. He knows starting from the beginning of the Années 1960 a series of success with Ronettes, of which he will marry the singer, Ronnie Bennett, The Crystals, Darlene Love, The Righteous Brothers (on compositions of Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller, etc It should be known that each song produced at the time by Spector became inevitably a title with success (and it became of this very rich fact whereas he was hardly 25 years old).

It at that time uses the talents of type-setters of the couples Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil which writes for its groups of the songs which remain traditional Pop music, many times taken again.

Its technique of recording in mono of a full orchestra including violins, coppers, guitars, batteries and percussions gives an immediately recognizable sound which one finds on the original versions of the songs Da-Doo-Ron-Ron , Be My Baby , He' S.A. Rebel , Then He Kissed Me , Baby I Coils You or Unchained Melody . Its techniques of production immediately had a great influence, in particular on Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys and, obviously, on the Beatles.

After the failure of the album To rivet Deep, Mountain High of Ike & Tina Turner in 1966, it is not withdrawn partially of the profession, not making any more but occasional appearances. It produces at the request of John Lennon for the Beatles certain songs of the album Let it Be to replace George Martin and to the great displeasure of Paul McCartney (indeed, this last forever appreciated the orchestral overload of Spector which it regarded as “hustle”. It is possible to appreciate the famous album in its purified version Let it Be Naked published in 2004).

It takes part then in the albums solo of Lennon of which Plastic Ono Band in 1970, Imagine in 1971 and Rock' Roll in 1975, like that of another ex Beatles, Georges Harrison All Things Must Pass in 1970 of which the fabulous title My Sweet Lord .

In 1973, he divorces his Ronnie wife.

He off produces also End the Century in 1980 for the Ramones, his behavior whimsical creating a tension which half of the group has of the evil to accept.

The weather will be only irregular public appearances thereafter, playing of his legend. He will be however approached by Céline Dion for a fallen through collaboration, Spector supporting the desires of the star with difficulty Canadian (the legend ready in Spector this sentence, which he would have released by leaving the studio: “one does not learn how in Mozart to make music”).

In 2003, it makes a return by producing two songs of the English group Starsailor.

The business Lana Clarkson

Phil Spector is currently judged for the murder of the actress Lana Clarkson which has occurred the February 3rd 2003. The actress was found died with the manor of the producer, a ball in the head. However, the temperament of Spector, known to declad a weapon very easily when he sees himself opposed, does not plead in its favor at the time of its lawsuit which proceeds with Los Angeles since the April 25th 2007 (most media in Los Angeles since that of agenda Simpson in 1995).
