Pharmacokinetic parameters

Thanks to the measurement of the rate of drug in the various compartments of the organization (primarily the Sérum) during time, it is possible to deduce from it from the pharmacokinetic parameters with an aim of trying to adjust the regulation, and to thus avoid an overdose (which will involve an increased toxicity) or a under-proportioning.

The usual pharmacokinetic parameters are:

  • ASC : surface under curve (AUC in IUPAC - it' S international standard)
  • Cmax: maximum concentration observed
  • Tmax: time necessary to reach Cmax
  • Vd: apparent volume of distribution
  • Cl: clearance
  • T ½: half-life, time necessary to observe a reduction of 50% of the plasmatic rate

There is the different one, which depends on the pharmacokinetic Analyze that one wants to undertake.
