Phantasmagoria (film, 1908)

Fantasmagorie is the title of the first Cartoon of Emile Courtet (known as Emile Cohl) made for the cinematographic company Gaumont. It is the first cinematographic cartoon and was projected the August 17th 1908 with the theater of the Gymnasium to Paris.

It was the beginning long and creative career of Emile Courtet in the cinema of animation. Phantasmagoria of Emile Cohl was turned image by image, and lasts 4 minutes. To each image corresponds a whole drawing, Cohl not using the technique of the cello, which makes it possible to keep the same bottom by drawing only the character moving on a transparency.
