The phaleristic (female name of Latin phalarae indicating phalère, and of the Greek word will phalara ) is an auxiliary science of the history which has as an aim the study of the orders, Décoration S and Médaille S.

These phalères given to the Roman legionaries for their acts of bravery or the campaigns in which they had taken part victoriously related hung to the armor (ex: quite visible on the statue of Auguste impérator).

Decorations (in the broad sense of the term) official, not-official (nuns, associative, of companies) allotted to natural persons or morals, can enter this fields of study. And that whatever the country, the whole of country and the studied historical period.
