Phagocyte
Phagocyte means “ eater of cells ”. Sometimes one compares them with the street sweeper S of the organization. The phagocytes or “ phagocytic cells ”, are indeed cells being able to introduce and destroy particles of variable size (of the nanometric scale to micrometric), which are for example microbes, deteriorated cells, blood tissues or foreign particles at the organization.
The phagocytes play a crucial role against the infections, primarily bacterial, but they also take part in the elimination of the microphone and foreign Nanoparticule S which penetrates the organization. They take part of the inflammatory processes .
The term Phagocyte is usually used for the animal organizations, of which that of the human being, but of the processes comparable with the Phagocytose exist at other living organisms.
These cells can become deformed and emit prolongations (Pseudopode S)), which imprisons the particle so as to allow its ingestion by progressive inclusion in the phagocyte where it is locked up inside their cytoplasm, in a kind of pocket (“ the Vacuole of phagocytosis ”) where specialized bodies of the cell, the Lysosome S, will secrete Enzyme S lytic able to degrade the living matter to destroy the particle or introduced cell. The whole of this process is called the phagocytosis . Generally, the macrophages completely eliminate the microbes present at the level from a wound or an infected site. Sometimes, the microbes resist phagocytosis; the infection can then progress.
If the microbes destroy the macrophages or that the latter are very numerous and at the end of the lifetime, there is formation of Pus (Abcès or external production).
The phagocytes are;
- - white globules (Polynuclear neutrophiles)
- - others Macrophage S.
70% of them are Granulocyte S and 5% of them of the Monocyte S which will be tranformeront in cells Macrophage S.
