Pforzheim
Pforzheim is a city of the Land of Bade-Wurtemberg, area of the south-west of the Germany. With its: 118000 inhabitants, it is one of the more big cities of this area. It is located at the foot (in North) of the Black Forest.
September 17th, 1692, during the War of the league of Augsburg, the marshal of Lorges beat there the prince Charles of Wurtemberg.
February 23rd, 1945, towards the end of the Second world war, the city was almost completely destroyed by the Royal Air Force. The attack, which lasted only 22 minutes, was a true “storm of fire” during which approximately: 17600 people perished, which represented more than 31% of the population of then.
After the war, the city, which in the past had been famous for its picturesque appearance, was rebuilt in the simple style and modest of the years 1950.
