In September 2003, Peyre is the tenth village of Aveyron classified Plus beautiful villages of France . The seal of Peyre holds of the provision of the houses in old stones, protected under a cliff from Tuf bored caves. Narrow streets in staircase, named calades, give access to the houses built in tuff. These streets are not accessible in the car. The church Saint Christophe is the principal building. It is a troglodytic church whose construction goes back to the 11th century. Strengthened at the 17th century, it was recently renovated and lodges exposures of local artists. A plate overhangs the village and offers an impressive panorama on the Viaduc of Millau and the Tarn.
