Peykan
The Peykan پیکان|the arrow is a Automobile which was manufactured by the Iranian company Iran Khodro. This car enjoyed a great popularity in Iran of the end of the Années 1970 at the beginning of the Années 1990. It is currently manufactured with the Kenya and was replaced by the Samand in Iran.
Origin
Peykan was derived from the Hillman Hunter of 1966, conceived and manufactured by the British group Rootes. The design was introduced in Iran by Mahmoud Khayami, cofounder and shareholder of the company and the factory Iran Khodro, at the time " Iran National".Production
In 1969, Rootes started to sell of Hunters in Iran Khodro in the form of kits all-loans intended for the assembly to Iran. In 1978, Peugeot taken the continuation of Rootes after this one was absorbed by the European subsidiary company of Chrysler. The production equipments were forwarded to the Iran and it car was completely manufactured under license Peugeot until in 2005.
