History
Top-of-the-range model Peugeot, the 505 wants to be replacing 504. The 505 is launched in 1979 shortly after the 305 (1977) and this whereas the 504 is in full business success and competes with the Peugeot news until 1984. The 505 knew two phases, phase I until 1985, and since 1986 a phase II. The interior was modernized, and will be used as a basis for the instrument panel of the 405 which will be marketed as from 1987. The front grill is redrawn as well as the Pare-chocs which is from now on out of plastic. The back is also restylé with fires resembling those of the 309. To note: the 505 was the Peugeot last with propulsion sold on the continent and last series 5. The 505 is known to be a reliable vehicle, certain specimens exceeded the 500.000 km. In 1983, on a basis of 505 phase 1, Peugeot called upon Danielson in order to prepare a version Turbo gasoline. It was recinnaissable with its specific painting fuck and its rims on which were often assembled tires Michelin de Type TRX. Initially marketed in version 150cv (which was very greedy while carburizing), it was followed by a version in 160cv and finally a version of 180cv. This type of motorization was not renewed on phase 2.Peugeot sold 1.200 specimens of 505 diesel turbo taxi with the USA, but after having known a peak in 1984 (20 000 specimens), the sales eroded, in spite of the launching of the 405 into 1989 which made a failure. Finally, Peugeot was withdrawn from North America in 1991. The 505 is the last propulsion of the mark, the version V6 (and V6 S) equipped with V6 PRV to shifted crank pins inaugurates the arrival of the 605 V6 (the 505 was used as test for this engine installation of). In 1986, it had already the ABR, air-conditioning, the electric sliding roof sliding, the rear view mirrors electric and de-icing, a must for the time. In spite of its reputation, the engine V6 PRV is not so greedy that it is thought and it is highly reliable, certain V6 exceeded the 250.000 km and roll still nowadays.
INTERNATIONAL CLUB 604 accommodates from now on the 505 V6 whose engine is the downward one of that of the 604, a heading of forum 604 is devoted to him besides: http://club604.free.fr/phpBB2/index.php
Nowadays the 505 are always required to be resold on the African continent, with the great despair of the French collectors.
A collector of 505 devoted a site in August 2000 to him: http://leverdie.club.fr/index.html
