Peugeot 309
The Peugeot 309 is a model of Automobile left on October 11th 1985 and built until in 1993 with the factory Poissy. From the C28 prototype, this model was to be called Talbot Arizona , but within sight of the bad situation of the mark Talbot since its repurchase by PSA, it was decided to market it under the mark Peugeot, with a classification with share of the remainder of the range: 309 . It is based on a lengthened platform of 205. The doors are common to both models besides.
The car underwent two phases of evolution.
-
1985 in June 1989 => phase 1
- July 1989 at 1993 => phase 2
Phase 1 is characterized by its design of instrument panel, rear lights and grill with two double bars, different from phase 2 (style is inspired by the 405).
Phase 2 takes again the grill with simple bars of the remainder of the range Peugeot, a more harmonious instrument panel, and especially a bubble postpones integrated better with invisible hinges. The rear lights take the form of those of the 405 and the threshold of the forage ladder is lowered until the base of this new optics.
The first phase was equipped with the engines gasoline of origin Talbot-Simca (1.1 and 1.3). These two engines are very robust but noisy, and require little maintenance, it does not have besides there a belt of distribution, this one being replaced by a chain.
The model SR was equipped with the engine 1.6 XU51C of Peugeot origin. Model GTI was equipped with the engine 1.9 XU Peugeot of 130 ch (the same one as on 205 GTI 1,9 L).
Diesel engine (1,9 L) were also assembled (GLD/GRD/SRD), as well as turbo diesels (1.8TD on SRDT).
The range grows rich at the year 1990 by ultrasportif model GTI16 developing 160 horses. In September 1992, the engines gasoline were equipped with the injection, and in 1993 of the catalyst which reduced considerably the power of models GTI (130=> 122 ch) and GTI16 (160=> 148 ch).
