Peugeot 204

The Peugeot 204 is a French car popular which was declined in a whole range of alternatives (truck, station-wagon, half-compartment, convertible, light van). It was produced between 1965 and 1976.

History

At the beginning of the Years 1960, Peugeot, which has in its range only large trucks, decides to be repositioned on the market of the trucks of intermediate size and to give following the successful series of the Peugeot 201, Peugeot 202 and Peugeot 203.

Known until there by the name of project B12 , Peugeot 204 is presented for the first time the April 23rd 1965 in Paris.

The 204 was the car most sold in France in 1969, 1970 and 1971.

Technique

The 204 is a traction before propelled by a driving block out of alloy of 1130 cm^3 (the maximum cubic capacity for the class of the 6 CV) developing 53 ch DIN. In diesel 1357 cm^3. The gear box, under the block cylinders, is locked up with the differential in a common casing. That makes it possible to ensure the lubrication of the whole with only one and even oil.

The 204 was the first Peugeot model with being equipped with disc brakes (with before only).
