Peter Van Petegem

Peter Van Petegem is a Belgian racing cyclist, born with Opbrakel the January 18th 1970. It is professional since 1992, and is member of the team today. He announced that he would put a term at his career the September 11th 2007.

Biography

Peter Van Petegem is a specialist in traditional the flandriennes. Called of zwarte van Brackel (black of Brackel) because of its tanned dye, it is illustrated by various places of honor in 1996 and appears by gaining the Het Volk in 1997. It confirms its good provisions for the races this type by renewing its performance the following year and while being placed in the 2nd place of the Championships of the world, then by gaining the Grand Prix E3, the Three days of the Breakdown and especially the Tour of Flandres in 1999.

It gains its principal successes in April 2003. After being itself imposed on the Lathe of Flandres for the second time on April 6th, it gains Paris-Roubaix the following week. It was the first to carry out this doubled same year since Roger de Vlaeminck in 1977.
