In the years 2000, the theories variable speed of light were popularized by Portuguese and English scientists (João Magueijo and John D. Barrow). There is at least, three uses or roles speed of light in Physique:

  • cEM - valid in the electromagnetism which gives speed of light in the Vide.
  • cST - valid to describe the local Space time
  • cGW - valid (in theory) for the gravitational waves.

The development of such a theory tries to show in a coherent way which of these three values speed of light are modified, and which are the effects on the subjacent theories. Such a theory could allow, according to their originators, to solve the problem of the energy sinks.

Albrecht and Magueijo; " With time varying speed off light ace has solution to cosmological puzzles"

There exist new scientific theories where one of the physical roles speed of light is different from the different one. The basic equations of these aspects of physics are redérivées in a self-coherent way and are being developed, but are very complex.
