Peter Svidler
Piotr Veniaminovitch Svidler (in Cyrillic ПётрВениаминовичСвидлер; Piotr Véniamiovitch Svidler) is a player of failures and international Large-Master Russian born the June 16th 1976 with Leningrad.
In July 2007 on the list of the International federation of the failures, it has a Elo: 2735, which places it at the 12th world rank.
Piotr Svidler learned how to play six years. It became GMI in 1994.
It gained four times the championship of Russia in 1994, 1995, 1997, and 2003. In 2001, it reaches the semi-finals of the Championnat of World FIDE. Andrei Lukin is his trainer.
Svidler is an expert of the Fischer Random Chess (also called Chess960). It gained the first edition of open Chess960 with Mainz in Germany. With the " 2003 Mainz Chess Classic", he became world champion of Chess960 by beating Peter Lékó in a match of 8 parts. Since, it defended its title twice, against Levon Aronian in 2004 and Zoltan Almasi in 2005.
It shared the 2nd place with Viswanathan Anand with the Championnat of World FIDE 2005 with 8.5 points out of 14 parts, 1.5 point behind the winner, Veselin Topalov.
