Peter Shilton
Peter Shilton was an English footballer born the September 18th 1949 with Leicester (England). It holds the record of selections in team of England (125), took part in three world cups and disputed more than 1000 matches of club.
Career in club
Shilton made its beginnings in the league of England with Leicester City in May 1966, it replaced Gordon Banks, another legendary goalkeeper. With this team he arrived finally of the F Cup.
During its long career, Shilton in particular gained the championship of England in 1978, two Ligue of the champions and a Supercoupe of the UEFA with Nottingham Forest.
In end of a career it made a match of First league with Bolton Wanderers, with more than 45 years! The following season he played for Coventry City and West Ham, but not first equips some. In December 1996, just after its 47è birthday, it signed with the Leyton Orient Football Club and played its 1000è match of English league.
It cumulated 1005 matches in the league of England (1390 matches on the whole).
Career in national team
Shilton made its beginnings in November 1970 at the time of a match against the team of East Germany.It took part in the Football world cup of 1982, with the Football world cup of 1986 (during which it was victim of the famous goal of Diego Maradona known as “of the hand of God”) and with the Football world cup of 1990.
Shilton also disputed the Championnat of Europe of football 1980 and the Championnat of Europe of football 1988, twice with an elimination with the first turn.
Shilton carried out 125 matches with the team of England, including 66 victories and 24 defeats, and boxed 83 goals.
Career of trainer
He stopped his career of player to become trainer of Plymouth Argyle Football Club in 1992 but he did not succeed in avoiding a relegation in the 2nd division. He currently deals with the goalkeepers of Middlesbrough Football Club.
