Peter Pettigrow

Character of the saga Harry Potter written by J.K. Rowling.

The author makes of it for the first time mention in the volume 3, in chapter 10.

Peter Pettigrow is a wizard born in 1960. Small of size and breadth, not larger than Harry or Hermione, it has the fine, faded hair and a beginning of baldness. Its eyes are small and wet. Its head resembles that of a rat and its dye is earthy. It misses a finger with the right hand, it cut it itself in 1981 to simulate its death.

Peter Pettigrow is weak, easily influenceable, it needs to follow a leader. He was one of the four Maraudeurs (founders of the chart) and consequently attended Poudlard, probably in the house Gryffondor. It was a boy grassouillet who, according to Mrs Rosmerta “ always trailed himself behind his friends ” who were at the time James Potter, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. Peter did not have the talents of his friends and they were its models within their group. It succeeds with the assistance of those with becoming a Animagus and could be transformed at will into rat, from where its nickname of Queudver .

When Black wedged Pettigrow in a busy street, Peter caused an explosion with his rod, killing 12 Moldu S, then it cut a finger of the right hand, was transformed into rat and flees in this form, simulating its characteristic died while making believe that the traitor was Sirius Black. This one was then shown treason of Potter, murder of Pettigrow and witnesses moldus. One locked up it with the prison of Azkaban. Pettigrow collected the venom of Nagini, an enormous snake, to use it in the potion. It carried the weak one and small body of Voldemort during the long voyage as far as Great Britain where they settled for a time in the manor of the Jedusor to the accesses of Little Hangleton. When Harry Potter was sent with Cédric Diggory in the cemetery by touching the cut, it was Peter who assassinated Cédric, which bound Harry. It placed then the cauldron on fire, notched the arm of Harry and collected its blood for the potion. Then, under the order of Voldemort, Peter cut his right own hand to add it to the potion. Of this horrible mixture, the Lord of Darkness renaquit in a new body. Voldemort entreated a fate which revealed a new hand brilliant and powerful for its servant that it names " Queudver". In the volume 6, the Lord of darkness sent Pettigrow at Rogue to assist it. It however had some difficulties of being subjected to its authority but was used to him all the same as servant at the time of the visit of Narcissa Malefoy and his/her sister Bellatrix.

It is found, in the seventh and last volume, the Manor of Malefoys. Whereas it is sent to check that Ron and Harry are well locked up in their dungeon, it has during one moment one moment of pity towards Harry which recalls him that he saved the life to him (in the volume three). Because of this moment of humanity, Peter Pettigrow is strangled by his own hand, that out of money worked by Voldemort.
