Biography

Peter Balázs made studies of economic scenes to the Université of Budapest, then worked as economist in a company of export. Peter Balázs speaks usually Hungarian, English, French, German, Polish and Russian.

Ministerial career

He passes to the ministries for Foreign trade then Foreign affairs, finally with the Cabinet of the Prime Minister, where he was in load of the international economic organizations.

He was Secretary of State to the ministry for the Trade and Industry, then ambassador with Copenhagen and Bonn then with Berlin.

European career

He is professor of economy and public administration at the University of Budapest before being appointed Secretary of State to integration and the international economic relations, then ambassador of Hungary near the European Union.

He was until in 2004 (where he replaced Mr. János Martonyi in June 2002), one of the 105 members of the Convention on the future of Europe charged to write the Traité establishing a Constitution for Europe, representing the Hungarian government.

When its country joined the European Union (on May 1st 2004), it enters temporarily to the European commission of Brussels but is not retained for the Commission Barroso. It carried out its training course at the commission at the side of Michel Barnier.
