Pete Thomas Ward (July 26th 1937 with Montreal -) is a player of Baseball Québécois. It is one of the rare inhabitants of Quebec to have evolved/moved in the major leagues as player of position. Wire of the player of hockey Jimmy Ward, he was considered, at the beginning of the Années 1960, like the striker of power of the future for the White Sox of Chicago.

He was acquired in the méga-transaction implying Ron Hansen, Dave Nicholson, and Hoyt Wilhelm of the Orioles in exchange of Luis Aparicio and Al Smith.

First goal of trade, its trainer (Al Lopez) tests it with the third bag to replace Smith. It shows quickly that it can cover much ground but finishes in the forefront of the American Ligue for the error count to the third goal with 38. It has a powerful arm but its throws are erratic. However, the launchers of the White Sox do not complain any. It compensates largely by its blow of stick; It beats Détroit using a Coup of circuit to the seventh handle of the match of opening, which will mark the beginning of a series of 18 parts with at least a sure Coup. It finishes the season with an average with the stick of .295, 5th of the American Ligue, with 22 DC, 84 PP, and 80 points marked. It finishes second with the poll of recruit of the year of the American league for the season 1963 behind its fellow-member, the launcher Gary Peters. Its marks of 177 sure blows and 34 doubles remain records to be beaten for a Québécois player. Left-handed striker, Ward was recognized for its strange posture with the stick, very leaning forwards. Ward declared itself, " I got has real silly stanza. Fundamentally I got has bad swing." Its higher totals in career were of 23 DC (including three Grand Slams) and 94 PP in 1964. In 1965, it is disturbed by spasms with the neck, heritage of an accident of car in the between-season. Its statistics feel some immediately; 10 DC, 57 PP, and an average of .247. Its time of play and its production continue to follow the downward slope during the season 1966. A wound with the back prevents it from playing third goal and it is transferred like Voltigeur (84 parts, .219,3 DC). It carries out a good return in 1967 with 18 467 involved DC and 62 PP to the stick. It is used as acrobat, first and third goal but strikes only for one average of .233 with 109 withdrawals out of three catches.

The alignment of the White Sox being weak at the end of the years 1960, Ward receives good throws less and less, especially that he is recognized like the striker of power of the team. In 1968, it collects 76 goals on balls, 15 DC and an average of .216. In 1969, he becomes reservist and is especially used like temporary striker. It obtains 17 sure blows 46 involved. It finishes its career in 1970 with the Yankees of New York as occasional player.

Dean Chance, launcher star, declared about Ward that it was the most dangerous striker in the vigorous situations (clutch hitter).
