Pete Postlethwaite

Pete Postlethwaite is an actor Britannique.

From its true name Peter William Postlethwaite, it was born the February 7th 1945 with Warrington, county of Cheshire, in England. Wire of workman, it was interested as of the school in the theater. However, his/her father wished that it have a surer situation. Peter thus chose a post of professor of Dramatic art. At 24 years, it decided to live its passion fully and to make its principal activity of it. It passed by several theatrical companies of the north of England before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company.

It began its cinematographic career with appearances in televised series. It is thanks to these roles that it started to be made known, in particular with the the United States. Its first success was in Distant Voices, Still Lives of Terence Davies in 1988. The following years, it still alternates between cinema and television. It is in 1992 that its career takes a turning. It takes part in the films Alien 3 and the Last of Mohicans .

The following year, it holds an important role in In the name of the father of the Irishman Jim Sheridan. For this role, Pete Postlethwaite was nominated for the Oscar of the best actor in 1993. Pete is as well known for the role of the mysterious Kobayashi lawyer, in the film Usual Suspects (1995). Its masterly interpretation of Danny Ormondroyd in the Virtuosos (1997) was also greeted.

In 2004, Pete Postlethwaite was promoted officer of the Ordre of the British Empire (OBE). Married and father of two children, it lives in England.
