Perthes-lès-Hurlus
Perthes-lès-Hurlus is an old commune of the department of the Marne
History
The village of Perthes-lès-Hurlus counted 156 inhabitants in 1914. The passage of the German army at the time of the First World War obliged the inhabitants to flee their houses as of at the beginning of September 1914. The village was destroyed, and was raised never again, victim of this war.During the creation of the military camp of Suippes in 1950, the commune was officially removed, and its territory attached to the common neighbor of Souain, which took then the name of Souain-Perthes-lès-Hurlus to perpetuate the memory of the disappeared village.
Geography
Perthes-lès-Hurlus is in the North-East of the department of the Marne, between Rheims and Verdun, on the crossroads of the old roads which connected Souain to Hurlus and Tahure with Suippes.
