Personification

Personification is a stylistic device Rhétorique which consists in using terms being usually used to describe the Man to qualify an animal or an object. I.e. that the object takes the characteristics of the human being then, he speaks, moves, and feels feelings.

a frog saw an ox (...) Envieuse, extends and swells. (Jean of the Fountain)

And their troop at the end were made familiar Until jumping on the shoulder of the king. (frogs which requires a king, Jean of the Fountain). Rq: the Fountain allots to frogs the feelings, passions, the acts, and the features of the man, it is thus a personification and more precisely of the anthropomorphism .
