Persingen
Persingen is a whole small village of the commune Dutchwoman of Ubbergen in the province of the Gueldre. Persingen is located daN the Ooijpolder. Persingen counts 37 houses and 98 inhabitants and is considered to be more the small village of the Netherlands.
Some historical data
About 1650, Persingen is a Seigniory with him only: Heerlickheijt Persinghen inder Oije . Formerly, the village was larger, and the dwellings were stretched on hillocks and a semicircular dam, Circul d' Ooij . But Ooijpolder often underwent floods and the village narrowed at the XVIIIe century and was almost completely absorbed in 1809 by the Waal. What remains of Persingen, is located around the church on a Donk, dune sand river. A second remainder are the few farms with the locality Wercheren .Time of Napoleon, the commune of Ooij-Persingen is formed; the Lord of Persingen becomes the first mayor.
The church
The church of Persingen, sometimes called wrongly vault of Persingen . Initially vault, it was devoted originally to St Dionysius. It probably became between 1322 and 1333 parish church. With the XVII {E} century become Protestant temple. It was unused end XVIIe or beginning XVIIIe century. In 1819 one arranged it in dwellings. The commune of Ubbergen buys the building in 1907 to avoid the destruction. In 1949, the catholic scouts made of it their vault St George and the building is restored in 1953-1954. Closed down then, it is currently used for exposures and like site for the celebrations of marriages and of the services of burials. In the church since 2002 an organ of 1861 of the organ builder Lindsen is, coming from Elst (province of Utrecht).
