Perpignan line - Villefranche-of-Conflent

But the company goes bankrupt and it is the State which recovers the line. It reassigns it with the Compagnie of the railroads of the South into 18?? , which prolongs it until Villefranche-with-Conflent. It is starting from this terminal that the Ligne of Cerdagne, metric gauge track, will ensure as from the years 1920 the connection with Cerdagne and the back Pyrenean country.
the line will be used by the Compagnie of the South of experimental laboratory for the electric traction. Overhead lines are installed in 1912, supplied with a current of 12000 V of frequency 16 2/3 Hz. Several experimental machines will be tested, and the Compagnie of the South plans to electrify the quasi-integrality of its network.
However, by convention with the beginning of the year 1920, the State obliges the various companies to electrify in 1500V continuous: 12000 V is given up, except on the line Perpignan - Villefranche. Isolated electrically, it is put not under tension in 1971 and the trains from now on are tractor drawn there by heat engines. The line is réélectrifiée in 1500 V continuous in 1984.
Of large renovation works was undertaken in 2006 simultaneously with the construction of the Ligne Perpignan - Figueres. The way was doubled between Perpignan and Soler, because this section will ensure the bond between the Northern end of the new line and the traditional network. In the same way, certain stations were renovated: raising of the quay, refittings (as with Prades). In order to establish FOR THE THIRD TIME given rhythm every 40 minutes between Villefranche-with-Conflent and Elne, it is planned to draw up new points of crossing of the oars.
