Perperikon
The crowned city Perperikon is to 15 km of Kardjali in the South-east of the Bulgaria. It is an ancient city of Thrace built in the rock, holy for the worship of Dionysos, a center of capacity comparable with Troy and Mycènes. It seems to have taken part in the Trojan War in with dimensions of Troyens. The city is quoted by Hérodote.
One found traces of a habitat going up at least with -4000 front J. - C. the city is a prosperous center until the 14th century. It seems to be the seat of a diocese as from the 9th century.
One found there inter alia:
- a container out of clay red and white dating from the Stone Age
- a gold diadem third century BC
- the throne from a sovereign carved in the rock and placed in the temple, which is an unusual situation
- a palate-sanctuary of the recent Bronze Age and Âge of iron
- a ceremonial furnace bridge
and built beside the ancient city, the moyenâgeuse city with
- its Christian churches
- its habitat of the Early middle ages
- a Byzantine fortress of XIIIe and XIVe centuries
and to the village of Tatoul
- a monument says “tomb of Orphée” dug in the rock to the top of one of the hills
- a Hellenic monumental construction with the foot of a hill
