PerkinElmer

PerkinElmer (EP corporation) is a specialized company in the manufacture of scientific material of measurement. It is a company which manufactures scientific apparatuses containing optics. It is based with Wellesley (Massachusetts) in the USA.

History

the company was founded in 1937 by Richard Scott Perkin and Charles Elmer like company of consultants in design in Optique.
Fusion in 1992 with Applied Biosystems to form Applera Corporation.
Aujourd'hui the company counts more 8.000 employees divided out of 125 countries. Its spheres of activities are very diversified: that goes from the material of medical diagnosis, with the chemical, agronomic, genetic analysis (police force), while passing by optoelectronics. The company gave up its subsidiary company which represented it in astronomy a few years ago.

Anecdote

It is Perkin Elmer which was in responsibility of cut the principal mirror of the Space telescope Hubble. However it is only after the launching which one realized that this work had been badly carried out and that the optics of telescope provided fuzzy images.
