Certain titles not appearing each month are compared to monthly magazines. The remark is true besides for other types of publications since, for example, the free daily newspapers distributed in France generally cease appearing to some extent of the summer period. Titles declared “monthly” can appear only eleven or ten times per annum. That less holds with the fall of the sales for certain periods that with the fall of the advertizing revenues. But of the newsletters known as confidential, of the very specialized titles only been useful by subscription can also periodically stop their publication for lack of matter to publish, the economic activity or institutional covered sector being insufficient (in summer period or period of the festivals of end of the year). These titles can (or not) diffuse numbers known as “double” (with increased pagination) or “out of the ordinary” (generally sets of themes, been used or not for the subscribers), thus for the summer period. Examples of “monthly” titles at “mixed” periodicity:

  • numerical Création (ceased appearing, two numbers double, dated DEC. - jan. and juil. - August, an out of the ordinary set of themes annual remainder available in kiosks in December and January);
  • Pixel (ceased appearing, even device that Création numerical);
  • numerical Creation/Pixel (resulting from the resumption of the topics of the two preceding titles, ten numbers per annum, including two two-monthly with pagination identical to that of monthly magazines, dated December-January and July-August.

The two-monthly one

It appears every two months.

Examples of French two-monthly titles:

  • Mixed More;

  • Spanish Term;

  • To accommodate Magazine.

The quarterly one

It appears every three months.

Examples of French quarterly titles:

  • Interdependences;
  • Marie-Claire Idées;
  • Special Game Boy;
  • Economy & Humanism;
  • Cassandre.

The quadrimestriel

It appears every four months.

Examples of titles French quadrimestriels:

  • Nantes Attitude.

Other frequencies of publications

One can meet titles with publication semi-monthly, semi-annual, annual, etc the Candle of the sapper appears for example only every four years, the February 29th precisely.

The Magazine S and the Revue S are also periodic publications.

Certain titles have an irregular publication, others (called one shot ) appear only once. The regular interruptions (renewed one year on the other) characterize also certain monthly publications. These titles alternate, for example, the monthly periodicity with, one or twice the year, a semi-monthly periodicity.
