History of Perdasdefogu

According to the oral tradition of old, the first inhabitants of the village would be originating in a small village named Turu located on the Eastern coast, with the mouth of the river Flumendosa . They were an small group shepherds and peasants who, constrained to flee the incursions of the pirates buckwheats, and guided by a woman, were established in the heights of the current village, around the church of San Sebastiano, the oldest part of the village. The event is a little before the year thousand. According to researchers, the structure even of the church (three naves, rustic walls, niches sheltering either of the statues, or of the relics) as well as the ocher color appearing under the coating, just as the presence of the cross of Constantin testify to a Byzantine influence. The church was restored in 1996. The inauguration of the restored church was the theater in a concert of the violonist Alessio Murgia, royal orchestra of Turin.
