Perchloric acid

The perchloric acid is a Oxacide containing Chlore VII of HClO4 formula.

__TOC

Description

It is a colorless liquid, a strong acid and a strong oxidant. Its salts are called perchlorates. It is the only shape of stable chlorine with respect to dismutation in basic medium with the ion Chlorure. It can be dehydrated out of perchloric anhydride very unstable Cl2O7.

Synthesis

One synthesizes the ions perchlorates by electrochemical oxidation of the ions Chlorate S and one obtains the acid by action of the sulphuric Acid on his salts.

Uses

The perchlorates are compounds important in pyrotechny as an oxygen conveyer in the mixtures. The perchloric acid can be used as against ions in solution because the majority of its salts are water soluble what limits the problem of precipitation.
