Per Daniel Amadeus Atterbom
Per Daniel Amadeus Atterbom (Asko, 1790 - Stockholm, 1855) was an academic and man of letters Swedish of the 19th century.
Biography
Per Daniel Amadeus Atterbom founded in 1807 the Société of the Dawn , which proposed to free the Swedish literature from the French influence. It to this end published 1810 with 1813 a literary review, the Phosporos , and became the chief of a school which one called of this fact “the school phosporite. ”
Professor with the University of Uppsala, it taught there successively the Histoire, the Philosophie and the Esthétique.
He is especially known by a collection of lovesongs, the Fleurs , and by his poems of the Île of happiness , of the Swedish Bardes and Scaldes : this last is its masterpiece.
