Pepsi Center
The Pepsi Center ( The Edge ) is a general sports room located at Denver, in the Colorado.
Since 1999, its tenants are the Avalanche of Colorado, a frankness from Hockey evolving/moving in LNH and the Nuggets of Denver, a frankness from Basket-ball of NBA. But in 2003, the arena sheltered two new franknesses which are the Colorado Mammoth (NLL) and the Colorado Crush (AFL). Its capacity is of 19.155 places for the Basket-ball, 18.129 for the Hockey and the Lacrosse then 17.210 for the American football in room. The room has 95 continuations of luxuries, 1.900 seats of club and 4.534 parking spaces. It is also used as concert hall.
History
Its construction began the November 20th 1997 on a site of 18.600 meters ² and its completion on October 1st 1999 was marked by a concert of Céline Dion. The first match of season of the Nuggets in the arena with the place the November 2nd 1999 against the Phoenix Suns, Nuggets were victorious 107-102.The Pepsi Center was built like part of the project of the improvement of the sporting structures with Denver with the Coors Field, stage of the Colorado Rockies, and INVESCO Field At Mile High, stage of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rapids, but also to replace growing old the McNichols Sports Arena (17 171 places) which was demolished in 1999.
Its cost of construction was of 160 million USD. The arena was drawn by the firm HOK Sport and its owner is the billionaire Stan Kroenke, whose fortune is estimated at 2,1 billion USD. Pepsi bought the rights of name 68 million USD.
Also included in the complex, a room of drive of Basketball used by Nuggets. The heart of the building shelters a suspended sculpture which represents several athletes.
The Pepsi Center accommodated a concert of Céline Dion in 1999, the National Hockey League All-Star Game of 2001, NBA All-Star Game of 2005, WWE Vengeance in 2003 (Kurt Angle had overcome Brock Lesnar and Big Show), the final of the Coupe Stanley in 2001 and of multiple tournaments NCAA. If Denver is gaining to organize Democratic National Convention of 2008, Pepsi Center will be useful like the place of convention.
