Pentium M

Left in March 2003, the Microprocessor Pentium M , for Mobile Pentium, is a Microprocesseur 32 Bit S of the family X86 manufactured by Intel. Its architecture is derived from that of the Pentium III. It takes again Pentium 4 its bus quad pumped , its predictor of connection (improved for the occasion) as well as the Instruction set SSE2. This processor was designed to replace the mobile Pentium 4, whose excessive consumption quickly became a handicap.

Pentium M is at the origin of the label Centrino , mark of Intel to characterize the laptops having, in addition to Pentium M, a chart network Wi-Fi approved by Intel, and a Chipset Intel. A laptop with Pentium M thus does not have forcing Centrino name

The fall of tension makes it possible to decrease the consumption of the processors when this one is not requested and thus makes it possible to increase the autonomy of the laptop.

Dothan

Pentium M Dothan are Die Shrink of Banias in 90nm. It supports technologies MX, SSE, SSE2, EIST and XD Bit except for models 710,738,733 and 723.

After Pentium M

The evolution of Pentium M corresponds to a new architecture: the Intel Mobile Structures, used by the processors Intel Core, not to confuse with Core 2 which are a variation general public of the Intel Core Architecture. The Intel Mobile Structures is not an architecture in it even since it depends on the architecture P6 of which it takes again the base.

The line entry Pentium M
