Pentalagus

The rabbit of the islands Amami or rabbit of Ryukyu ( Pentalagus furnessi ) is only the Espèce kind Pentalagus . This extremely rare rabbit meets only on the islands Amami and Tokuno, with broad of the Japan. It is covered with a completely black fur and has long claws thanks to which it builds its shelter in the ground. It is mainly night, nourishing forest food such as sheets of Gynérium, sweet potatoes, bamboo shoots, nut… It would communicate with its congeneric by a system of slappings.
